My name is Bryce Vinnicombe Winkler. I am an art educator and visual and performing artist living in the San Francisco Bay Area.
I grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa where I began ballet at an early age, and received a well rounded education in the visual and dramatic arts. I continued with a passion for the visual and performing arts when my family moved to the Philadelphia area where I entered middle school. As an Art Major in high school, I was exposed to a wide variety of materials, skills, and techniques, ever expanding my “tool box” from which to express ideas and concepts. I received my B.A. from the School of Fine Arts at Indiana University with a focus on painting and photography, in addition to a variety of other 2D and 3D studio classes.
I moved to San Francisco after college and became a part of the dance community, dancing for a dozen or so companies and choreographers, performing on stages in San Francisco and the surrounding areas, as well as in New York City. In 2012, I began creating my own work under VINNICOMBE/WINKLER, premiering at ODC Theater in SF in 2013, 59E59 Theaters in NY,NY, and in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2014.
My life as an artist intersected with a passion for nurturing young minds during my child’s preschool years. Working alongside the directors of Kiddie Kampus Cooperative Preschool, as a volunteer parent, I fondly participated, observed, and learned about these young growing minds. My interest quickly expanded from early childhood development through all the years of development to adulthood. My passion for working with children across all age groups and sharing my extensive knowledge and experience as an artist inspired me to pursue a MAT in Art Education from the Academy of Art University.
